Dental Treatment During Pregnancy is Safe!

New studies show no evidence that dental cleanings or dental treatment with local anesthetics is harmful during a woman's pregnancy. Many pregnant women do not go to the dentist when they are pregnant because they think it's going to harm the baby. The study found no reason to link dental treatment and local anesthetics with increased negative outcomes for the infant.

Oral health for a pregnant woman is critical because an increase in bacteria has been linked to low birth weights and pre term labor.

Pregnant women naturally get inflammation in the gums (pregnancy gingivitis) due to the changes in hormones. It is often necessary to receive an extra cleaning to remove plaque containing bacteria during pregnancy.

Oral health is important for mother and baby!
